Origin Story

In 2016, while looking for a new career, I stumbled across a passionate and helpful coding community while reading Medium articles about coding in general. I was hooked and dove in, learning some basic Python on Codecademy. I knew I needed a higher level of learning, and in the fall of 2019 entered the We Can Code IT Bootcamp for C#/.NET and earned my certification as a Full Stack Developer.

In boot camp I realized I was interested not only in coding but in how students learned coding skills most effectively. When I was offered an associate instructor role at WCCI after graduating, it was a no-brainer. I facilitated 3 cohorts, helping to graduate over 25 students, many of whom had no prior coding experience. In January of 2021 I led my own cohort by myself, working alone to get 24 students onboarded to computational basics, the C# language on the .NET Core platform, TDD and front end work. In February 2021 I accepted an offer from Salesforce, for a consultant developer role. After 3 years and 5 certs I have experience on both private and public sector Salesforce projects.

I have a degree in English from Kent State University and a background in all aspects of residential remodeling. In my free time I enjoy reading, playing guitar, and working on my vintage Chevy trucks. Note: I have zero free time.
